Ningo Prampram Assembly engages stakeholders

The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) in the Greater Accra Region has held a town hall engagement with key stakeholders to outline its 2022-2025 Medium Term Development Plan.

The four-year development plan was prepared with guidelines from the National Medium Term Development Policy Framework.

It focused on addressing pertinent issues such as Healthcare delivery, Sanitation, Bad roads, frequent power outage, improving the lives of People with Disability (PWD) and the less privileged, flooding, open defecation, and low performance of students among others.

Speaking during the engagement, Ms Zubaida Damago, the Development Planning Officer for NiPDA said the Assembly was mandated to conduct a public hearing of the District Medium Term Development Plan for certification by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for subsequent implementation by the Assembly.

She said the engagement offered key stakeholders and the public an opportunity to review the projects, and programmes contained in the plan and offer support for its implementation for development.

According to her, the meeting also offered the Assembly a platform to discuss successes, challenges, and obstacles faced in the implementation of the previous plan from 2018-2021 and offer recommendations to improve future planning in the district.

The Assembly’s budget for 2022 fiscal year and highlights for the third and fourth Quarter of 2022 was discussed.

Ms. Ayorkor Ayayee, the District Budget Analyst said the Assembly was not able to achieve its financial target for the first quarter.

She reiterated that the monitoring task force of NiPDA would be on site from July to enforce the payment of all taxes and stressed that all defaulters would be prosecuted, and the Assembly had valued all property and bill distribution was ongoing.

Mr AL-Latif Tetteh Amanor, the District Chief Executive said the government was working towards increasing development in the district as Agenda 111 amongst others has commenced.

He revealed that the assembly had put in place measures for its revenue generation drive and entreated the people to endeavour to honour their various tax obligations.

Ms. Vida Annang, the Information Officer for NiPDA educated the gathering on the Electronic Levy Transaction and urged them to desist from misconceptions that would retard the process for the government to mobilize its intended revenue to build the country.

The gathering offered the opportunity for the participants to meet officials of the Assembly and voice out issues affecting them in their communities as answers were provided.

Participants include traditional and religious leaders, artisans, farmers and fishers, youth groups, Assembly and Unit Committee Members, Departmental heads, political party representatives, among others.
