The Savanna Regional Communication’s Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Malik Basintale has slammed the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over his digitization lecture held on Tuesday.
Speaking on TV3 NewDay Wednesday, November 3, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said Dr Bawumia was not looking at what other vice presidents were doing in their countries.
According to him, although Ghana’s constitution do not assign him clear responsibilities it was only right that he looks at others around the world and emulate their works.
“With the greatest of respect to the Vice President, I think he is not really looking at what other vice president are doing in their countries .You need to compare yourself , you need to check your pace to look at what others are doing. I mean in the event that you don’t even know your clear direction because ideally, the constitution don’t define a clear role for the vice president. But event that you don’t know the lines or strides you are taken, you look at what others are doing and then you coach yourself”.
Basintale tells what other Vice Presidents are doing
Mr Basintale said the Vice Presidents of Nigeria, South Africa and the United State of America were commissioning impactful projects in their respective countries at the same time Ghanaians own was speaking about issuing cards to children and that he find unacceptable.
“I went on the page of Vice President of Nigeria for example , Dr Yemi Osinbajo and at the point that Dr Bawumia was talking of being born and given a Ghana card. He was commissioning the Duchess International Hospital, the first of its kind in Nigeria at the same spur and level with any hospital in Hong Kong or Washington. At the same time, the Vice President of South Africa, David Mabuza was doing so great commissioning schools they had put up in the country”.
“At the same point in time, the Vice President of the US, Harris Kamala was launching what we call Build Back Better, where you will have free health care, basic healthcare for people, what have you. These are what other vice presidents are doing in their country”, Mr Basintale said.
Mr Basintale described as petty achievement enumerated by Dr Bawumia at Tuesday’s programme adding those were not better and bread issues.
