Actress Eleanor Lee accused of calling Chinese nationals ‘idiots’ in leaked audio
Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee has found herself at the center of an unexpected controversy after a voice recording—allegedly featuring her—surfaced online, triggering a heated discussion among netizens.
The clip, which quickly circulated across Chinese social media platforms, reportedly includes a female voice referring to Chinese nationals in derogatory terms, with the word “idiots” being the most quoted.
Although the identity of the speaker hasn’t been officially verified, many online users have pointed fingers at Eleanor Lee, prompting backlash.
Known for her breakout role in the Chinese drama The Big Boss and as the daughter of celebrated Singaporean host Quan Yi Fong, Eleanor has built a successful career in China over the years. This latest development, however, threatens to cast a shadow over her reputation.
Reactions have been swift and divided. While some critics have demanded an explanation or apology, others are urging the public not to rush to judgment without concrete evidence.
“Until there’s confirmation, this could easily be a case of voice manipulation or misunderstanding,” one commenter wrote.
As of now, Lee has not issued a public statement addressing the controversy. Her silence has only fueled further speculation, though her supporters argue that it may be a legal strategy or a way to avoid fanning the flames.
This isn’t the first time Eleanor Lee has had to deal with digital challenges. In the past, she’s spoken out about online harassment, including the hacking of her social media accounts, which she claimed deeply affected her sense of security and mental health.
