Boy Alinco shares the emotional toll of pursuing U.S. citizenship

Nollywood actor Bayo Bankole, popularly known as Boy Alinco, opened up on the Teju Babyface Show about the hardships he faced in his pursuit of U.S. citizenship.

Reflecting on his early years of travel, Boy Alinco shared, “I have had the opportunity of travelling way back in 1999, and 2000 frequently.

But I came to the US for the first time in April 2015.” What followed was a journey that was far from easy.

Boy Alinco recounted meeting a woman shortly after his arrival, and within months, deciding to settle down and get married.

However, this seemingly happy decision took a darker turn. “But it was a bitter experience for me. Eventually, I had to stay back.

Two years of an experience that I will not want to recall,” he revealed, describing the emotional and logistical challenges that came with immigration.

His story highlighted the difficulties faced by many who try to establish a new life in a foreign country. The path to securing a green card and citizenship isn’t smooth for everyone, as Boy Alinco learned firsthand.

“There are processes to citizenship. There are processes to getting a green card. Do you want to go through asylum? The process of immigration does not come easy. Some guys are fortunate. They get it so easily. But not all of us. If you bring 10 guys out, eight will have a nasty experience,” he explained.
