I learn from those who came before me
Ghanaian singer Efya has reflected on her journey in the music industry, saying consistency and determination have helped her stay relevant.
“So far, at least we’ve been inside the industry like 15 years this,” she told BBC Pidgin monitored by MyNewsGh. She explained that her growth did not come easily.
“I mean, everything dey go well, it gets me up and down,” she stated. Efya said she relies on her talent and hard work.
“I get real talent where like, I defeat them,” she said. “So, I just attach the singing plus consistency, determination.” She also revealed that she studies musicians who came before her.
“I do watch the people who come before me, then learn from them,” she said. According to her, she never takes opportunities for granted.
“Any time where I get any opportunity, say, I will do anything for any stage,” she said. Efya added that she takes her performances seriously.
“Most of the time, if you sick sef, I take my performances very serious,” she stated. She also advised people not to dwell on negativity.
“Just know, I no dey pay attention to negativity,” she said. “Nobody that will bring me money. Nobody that will bring me peace of mind also.”
