Legendary Ghanaian Afro pop, highlife and reggae musician, Julius Kojo Antwi affectionately called Kojo Antwi has lost his father.

His father, Opanin Kwadwo Asiamah Asubonten died on January 2, at age 104.

Sharing the news in an Instagram post sighted by GhanaPlus.com, the Afrafrata hit maker also known in the music circles as the ‘Mr Music Man’ or the “Maestro” paid glowing tribute to his father.

He described him among other things as a might tree who lived full life and lived it well.

“My heart is saddened by your departure my dear father.  You lived a full life and lived it well. Your widow mourns you. All the seventeen of your children mourn you.  We are all little branches of the mighty tree you were in this life,” Kojo Antwi said.

“You did the best you could for your family. I may not have understood you as a child but have appreciated and celebrated you since beaming an adult. Four long days and nights it has taken me to come to terms with the fact that you and I will speak no more, shake hands no more, embrace and smile at each other no more,” he added.

Making reference to one of the hit songs on his 1995 ablum, “To Mother Afrika”, “Bre Bre Anowa”, a song celebrating mothers and fathers for their love and and scarifies for their wards, Kojo Antwi said the song was in recognition of his father’s love, protection and provision for him and his siblings.
