The Founder and Chief Executive officer of the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards, Prince Mackay has lamented about the seeming sabotage of the awards program which seeks to honour distinguish radio and television personalities by a section of the media.
Speaking on Entertainment Review on Saturday, August 28 monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the award schemes was one of the best in Africa and has one of the best red carpet in the world yet such media houses prefer to only spread falsehood rather than focusing on what the awards stood for.
He noted as far as the red carpet was concerned RTP’s red carpet was better than that of the Grammys’ based on feedback gathered from persons outside the country.
“Look, this event, it is one of the biggest organized events, I am telling you for a fact but nobody will speak about the good things. We do the largest and the most elaborate red carpet ever in the whole of Africa. If you see the pageantry on our red carpet, people can call me from the US and say they are watching on line, …is better than the Grammy’s red carpet, yet no body will talk about it but they will play the propaganda,” he said.
“This issue you brought about that media house have not even won more than four or three awards on our awards platform yet the spread the news out there and it take the shine out of the all the work we do,” he added.
The RTP CEO made the comment while responding to report, the awards scheme seem to honour more personalities from media houses whose owners were sponsors of the programme.
He noted such reports were sheer propaganda made to dint the reputation of the awards scheme and urged the public to disregard them.
