2021/22 GHPL: Gladson Awako urges Hearts of Oak to bounce back to winning ways
Hearts of Oak midfielder, Gladson Awako has urged his side to bounce back to winning ways as they set their sights on retaining the Ghana Premier League title.
The Phobians have a made slow start to their title defence – winning only four out of their 11 games played so far this season.
Hearts are currently 7th on the league table, 10 points behind leaders and arch-rivals Asante Kotoko with two games in hand.
“Last season is over though Hearts won every silverware, now we have to up our game if we want to win anything this season. We don’t need any distraction but rather full concentration. Now it’s about doing our talking on the pitch,” Awako told the club’s official website.
“The first part of the season is still ongoing. There are new players and changes and we need to work extra hard to achieve the ultimate.“We are growing as a squad and a team. We will try as hard as we can to improve and we will try to do that over the next few months.’We know the club demands to win in every game.”
He added, “We all want to make an impact. No one wants to miss any game and everyone wants to play their part and contribute to success.
“Sunday’s clash with Wonders will be a return to the Accra Sports Stadium after two weeks of being on the road. It is great playing in front of our home fans again.
“Winning as a team and bringing success to this club is so important and it will only help us improve because when you win together you only want more of it.”
