2021 Africa Cup of Nations: It will be difficult for Black Stars to win trophy – Michael Osei
Former Ghana international, Michael Osei believes the Black Stars quest of winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon will be difficult.
The 33rd edition of the continent most prestigious tournament kicks off on January 9 in Yaounde.
Milovan Rajevac and his charges have been tasked by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to end the country’s 40 years trophy drought.
Having lost 3-0 to Algeria in a friendly against Algeria in Doha ahead of the tournament, the Babiani Gold Stars gaffer believes the Black Stars chances of winning the trophy does not look likely.
“It is a tournament we expect them to make an impact,” the former Asante Kotoko trainer told Accra based Rainbow Radio.
“The boys are also determined to win. Ghanaians have yearned to win the AFCON but all the same, it won’t be easy at all.
“This is because the generation has changed. Some of the countries have changed after calling quality players,” he added.
Ghana will fly to Yaounde on January 7 for the tournament.
The Black Stars will kick start the tournament against giants Morocco on Monday, January 10 before taking on Gabon and Comoros in the other Group C matches.
