AFCON 2021: Gyan expresses frustration on Ghana's trophy drought

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed his frustration about Ghana’s inability to win the AFCON since 1982.

The Black Stars came close in 2010 and 2015, reaching the final. However, they failed to bring the trophy home, losing to Egypt and Ivory Coast respectively.

“It’s been quite frustrating, because since 2008, our worse has been the semi-final,” Gyan said after thee 2021 AFCON draw in Cameroon.

“We’ve always been coming closer to the title but not getting it.”

“So I think everyone back home wants the cup; it doesn’t matter about the performance, it’s about the cup and that’s what we are preparing for,” he stated.
