Deabeas Owusu Sekyere urges Paide City to continue producing more good performance
Paide City Team scored 33 goals after 12 rounds with former Leixoes SC striker Deabeas Owusu Sekyere leading the way with seven goals and three assists.
In a lengthy interview, the Dutch born Ghana attacker spoke about his first season with the club, crucial games, maintaining form, and his relationship with his teammates.
“The team has a very good atmosphere, since the beginning of the season. The victory over FC Flora in the semi-finals of the cup further increased the motivation. I am sure we will be able to continue in the same spirit,” he said
“Unfortunately, we have experienced misfortune in the last minutes and lost several such matches (in the first round, Paide lost to Nõmme Kalju, FC Flora and FCI Levadia from the final minutes). But if we look at the whole 90 minutes, I think we last deserved a victory when we met Levadia, but in the end they got it,”
“That is something we need to work on. We need to focus until the last minute. It is gratifying that we are the most productive team in Premium too. We are able to create opportunities for each other on the field, which creates a pleasant atmosphere in the team. It’s only a matter of time before we start picking up in the top three,” Deabeas added.
In the summer of 2020, the Dutch footballer joined Paide. At the same time, Estonian national team striker Henri Anier joined the club and left for the Thai Premier League before the season began. Deabeas revealed that Anier was a good player and they miss him.
“Henri is a very good attacker. Of course we miss him, but the connection with Kaimar on the field is very good. We are finding each other better and he is replacing Henri well,” Deabeas noted.
“I go to the court every game with the desire to score a goal. Of course, the main thing is for the team to score three points, but I create chances and it’s important. Sometimes goals come, sometimes not. That’s the way it is in football. more importantly, as a team, we can create goal opportunities. And that’s what we can do,” he concluded.
