Ghana coach CK Akonnor faces uncertain future after South Africa defeat

Ghana coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s future with the national team remains uncertain following Black Stars defeat to South Africa in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars suffered their first defeat in the qualifiers to South Africa on Monday at the FnB stadium.

The Bafana Bafana inflicted a 1-0 victory over the Black Stars to go top of Group G.

Maritzburg United forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane strike in the dying embers of the game settled the encounter.

Ghana had defeated Ethiopia 1-0 in the opener before the South Africa clash.

However, after the Black Stars uninspiring performance in their defeat to the Bafana Bafana, Ghanaians has called for the sacking of coach CK Akonnor insisting he cannot lead the team to the promise land.

The former Asante Kotoko was appointed to replace Kwasi Appiah in February 2020 and is yet to make strides with the team.

Out of the 11 games played so far, he has recorded 4 wins, 5 defeats and 2 draws.
