Hudson-Odoi, Nketiah, Lamptey Ghana switch not complete

Footballghana.com can report that talks about nationality switch of trio Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah and Tariq Lamptey is not complete.

The Ghana Football Association are said to be in talks with the English-born players to switch allegiance and play for the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Report went rife that the trio have completed their international switch to play for the West African powerhouse.

But Footballghana.com understands the process is far from complete as the FA continue to work around the clock to complete it.

Tariq Lamptey recently rejected call up to play for the England U-21 side after telling to coach Lee Carsley to exclude him.

The Brighton defender is currently in Ghana for holidays since the 2021/22 season is over.

He took the opportunity to meet Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku to discussed about his desire to play for Ghana.

Lamptey watched Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar where the Black Stars inflicted a 3-0 win over their opponent.

He has capped two times for the England U-21 but has represented England at the U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has capped three time for the Three Lions of England but has been overlooked for almost two-years despite playing actively.

He was in Ghana last year and had the opportunity to meet Ghana’s President Akuffo Addo and GFA boss Kurt Okraku.

Eddie Nketiah who is the all-time top scorer for the U-21 team with 16 goals recently disclosed his intention to play for Ghana.
