LIVE UPDATES: Doha hosts draw for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

Good evening and welcome to the live updates of the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage draw.
This year’s highly-anticipated mundial is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022.
The tournament which will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world, and the second World Cup held entirely in Asia is scheduled to be played in five cities.
With eight months away from the commencement of the tournament, the euphoria has been building up gradually in the last few weeks, especially last week when some continents wrapped up their qualifiers.

Meanwhile, at the end of the first phase of ticket sales, it has been reported that fans have purchased 804,186 tickets for matches at the World Cup in Qatar
This is according to world football governing body FIFA as communicated in a statement last Wednesday.
This evening’s draw event is being graced by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He is joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino as well as football officials from the past and present.
