“Mbella is like myself; we’re finishers” – Eric Bekoe
Eric Bekoe, Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, has drawn comparisons between himself and Cameroonian striker Frank Etouga Mbella citing they both share similar qualities.
Bekoe, who dazzled for Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the 2007/08 GPL season, was famed for his goal-scoring prowess in his one-season stint with the reds.
The striker’s clinical prowess was evident in the 2007/08 season and it culminated in Bekoe winning the golden boot at the end of the season before securing a bumper deal to Egypt where he also won the Golden boot.
Cameroonian striker, Frank Etouga Mbella, has also hit the ground running for the porcupine warriors this season in similar fashion just as Bekoe did.
Etouga, in 12 games has already netted 11 goals including two hattricks. The forward is the top scorer of the Ghana Premier league currently and is being tipped to break Bekoe’s record of 17 goals in a single season for the reds.
Bekoe when quizzed about his assessment of Etouga’s performance this season, the 2007/08 GPL top scorer stated he sees similar qualities he possesses in the Cameroonian attacker.
“Mbella is like myself, we’re finishers. When I saw him playing the first time, I said to a friend this guy is going to break my record” – Eric Bekoe told Empire FM.
“I am praying he [Etouga] is able to avoid injuries and suspensions so that he can break the record I set some years ago.” – Bekoe added.
