Sudan fire Hubert Velud as head coach ahead of 2021 AFCON

Sudan has fired head coach Hubert Velud following their disappointing performance in the FIFA Arab Cup.

Jediane Falcons had the poorest record in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, losing all three games while failing to score a single goal and allowing ten.

Sudan was drawn in Group C and suffered a 4-0 defeat to Algeria before being thrashed 5-0 by Egypt and then shockingly losing 1-0 to Lebanon.

Not only that, but they finished last in their World Cup qualifying group with only three points from six games, failing to win any of the games in the group that included Morocco, Guinea-Bissau, and Guinea.

They did, however, achieve the impossible by qualifying for the 2021 AFCON despite being drawn in the qualifications alongside Ghana and South Africa.
