We are doing everything right to stay” – Coach Bashiru Hayford
Desperate Legon Cities head coach Bashiru Hayford has stated that his outfit is doing everything possible to stay in the domestic top-flight despite playing a draw against Bechem United at home over the weekend.
The Royals were held to a 1-1 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday night football.
Despite taking the lead on the 9th minute through Jonah Attoquaye, the homers lost concentration at the back for a second half equalizer from the visitors.
The draw still puts Legon Cities on the ascendency but Hayford strongly believe they are playing top-flight football next season having learnt alot of positives.
Speaking to the media after the game, Coach Hayford said, they are doing everything within their might to stay in the league.
“We dominated the entire first half and took control of the game. We played very well. The boys did everything right and the goal came. We should have doubled the lead and at least tried to kill the game in the first half. Sad we didn’t do that and it has come back to haunt us. We didn’t take our chances when the tempo of the game went up high.”
“The result tonight is a fair reflection of the game. This draw feels like a lose. Our main aim is to grab the three points. We need to put this behind us quickly and be ready for the next one”, Bashiru Hayford said at the post match interview with the press.
“We knew if we win we could have escaped the relegation fight but here we are, we need to fight and hope again.”
“Of course, no one will be happy with the results tonight because this a game we came to win just like our previous games.”
He added that; “We will stay in the league. We will do everything to fight hard and stay.”
“There are positives in the game. Next season, our fans will see a well transformed Legon Cities. We have learnt a lot all throughout the season.”
Legon cities are on 13th position with 39 points after playing 32 matches..
