World Cup play-off: We are going all out to beat Ghana in Kumasi – Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze
Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze has declared he and his teammates will go all out to beat the Black Stars in the first leg of the World Cup play-off.
The Super Eagles will play the Black Stars in a two-legged encounter with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.
The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse encounter on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja.
Ahead of the blockbuster clash, Chukwueze, who plies his trade for Spanish side Villarreal says the Super Eagles will go all out to defeat Ghana in Kumasi so the return fixture in Abuja, will be easier.
“We are going all out for a win in Kumasi and make our work easier in the second leg in Abujà. We know it is going to be very tough, but qualifying for the World Cup is a big challenge we are not ready to lose,” Chukwueze enthused.
Having missed out in the last edition of the Mundial, the Black Stars are seeking to play in the World Cup for the fourth time having played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
Meanwhile, Nigeria are in search of their 7th qualification to the biggest soccer mundial to be staged in Qatar.
Nigeria have arrived in Kumasi for the much-anticipated clash on Friday.
Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his technical team arrived with 25 players for the crucial encounter.
In head-to-head meetings between the two West African rivals, Ghana enjoys the superiority having won 25, drew 19 and lost 12 in 56 clashes.
