MTN FA Cup: Relegation-bound Sharks seek victory over inspired Tema Youth

The fixtures for the round of 16 of the 2021/22 MTN FA Cup continues today with Elmina Sharks playing division one side Tema Youth at the Nduom Sports Stadium.

With the football season drawing to a close both sides have so much to play for.

Elmina Sharks, with two games to go, are battling for a place in next season’s Ghana Premier League.

The Elmina based side are currently in 17th position and are one of few favorites to join Inter Allies as the relegated teams for the ongoing season.

It is a situation that has been attributed to their inability to win against lower oppositions in the Premier League by their founder.

He said: “What hurts me most is that the likes of King Faisal can come to our own stadium to defeat us. That is very hurtful.

“It is also painful to lose against the likes of Liberty Professionals and Inter Allies when Elmina Sharks are capable of defeating the likes of Kotoko…”

They will, therefore, be expected to at least go as far as possible in the FA Cup to help end their season on a high note.

Their opponent, Tema Youth, have motivation too. The Division 1 club are currently seeking to regain promotion to the Premier League and will be going out to cause an upset in the FA Cup by winning it.
