2010 World Cup: Kuami Eugene reacts to Asamoah Gyan’s penalty miss against Uruguay
Ghanaian highlife musician Kuami Eugene has reacted to Asamoah Gyan’s heart-breaking penalty miss during the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa.
Last month, was exactly 11-years Ghana failed to emerge as the first African country to book their place in the semi-finals of the biggest soccer mundial, after losing 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-finals to South American side Uruguay.
Suarez handled a goal bound header during the two nations’ quarterfinal encounter at Soccer City, earning himself a red card.
However, Gyan clipped the top of the crossbar with the resulting penalty which denied the Black Stars from making history on the continent.
Suarez’s actions earned him criticism from around the world.
However, according to the “Wish Me Well” hitmaker, Ghanaians can never forgive Luis Suarez but said the all-time top scorer of the Black Stars is still a hero regardless of the penalty miss.
In a post sighted by Footballghana.com, Kuami Eugene said, “[This is] why we [Ghanaians] can never love Suarez. It still dey hurt that bad. Asamoah Gyan, our hero regardless,”
