A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s legal team and private legal practitioner Mr Godwin Edudzie Tamakloe has appealed to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to honour the late Ghanaian legendary Highlife musician, Nana Kwame Ampadu, posthumously.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia on Friday, October 1, monitored by GhanaPlus.com, he said the Ghanaian musician contributed significantly to the cause of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and deserves to be honoured.
Nana Ampadu’s songs still relevant today
He indicated that among many other things, his music was a source of encouragement, tension calmer and of very much relevant to society then and even now.
Mr Edudzi Tamakloe said the NDC would not oppose any decision to honour him, if government decide to do so and pleaded with the President to honour him and others alive.
“If you say you want to honour Nana Ampadu, NDC won’t oppose, Npp won’t oppose because one way or the other he has been associated with the NDC, he has been associated to the NPP, its cut across”.
“This for this one I will plead with the power that be. I will plead with Nana Akufo-Addo, if he can give him national honour, it could be posthumously but the most important thing is that we should be able to recognize some of these people when they are even alive”.
Nana Kwame Ampadu passes on
