China to waive some Africa loans: I pray Ghana benefit so NPP can tout it – Kwame Jantuah

A member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah has said he is praying so Ghana benefit from the relief announced by China to waive loans of some African countries.
The reasons for his prayers he said is so that the ruling New Patriotic Party can tout same since they are very good in hyping such things.
“There is something on social media, China has decided to grant 17 African countries to waive their loans, I pray that Ghana should be one of them,” Mr Jantuah said.
“I pray Ghana should be one of them”, he emphasized.
The CPP politician, although agrees the loan may come at a cost noted that “It will come at a cost but at least NPP will tout it that our Cedi has come up because China has forgiven us our loans”

China to Waive loans of 17 Africa countries
China, the largest government creditor to emerging economies, on August 18, announced it will forgive 23 interest-free loans to 17 African countries and redirect $10 billion of its to International Monetary Fund reserves to nations on the continent.
Bloomberg report the announcement was made at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation by China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to the report, details of the beneficiary countries and that of the package are yet to be announced.
The relief is to strengthen China’s intention for Africa to consider it as its preferred long-term development partner, particularly “in the face of the various forms of hegemonic and bullying practices,” China’s Foreign Minister,Wang Yi, was reported to have said.
