NDC MPs makes solemn pledge to frustrate government business in Parliament

Vida Essel-LampteyThe National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) have made solemn promise to Ghanaians to frustrate government over any agreements and bills that have the likelihood to run off the country if laid before the house.
The MP for Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr Clement Abass Apaak said Ghanaians; especially, the many millions who voted for the party would not forgive them if they allow such bills to be passed adding the party would not be wrong if they frustrate government in that regard.
“If they bring back something like Agyapa, do you truly expect us to allow that to pass? if they bring back something like the PDS, you truly think in all consciousness, Ghanaians will forgive us for letting it pass? , If they propose persons that we know have very questionable characters to become ministers, you think we should let that pass? If they bring bills, they bring loan agreements that are going to fleas the good people of this country in the likeness of Kelvin GVG, you think we should let that pass?”.
“Of cause, we will frustrate that, we will blog that, we will not let such see the light of day, and that is a promise, a solemn promise to that we make to the people of Ghana”, he emphasized.
Dr Apaak made the comments in responds to public fears that the NDC, which currently share same numbers of MPs with the ruling New Patriotic Party would use it numbers to frustrate government business in the 8th Parliament.
The NDC politician was speaking on HOT NEWS aired on Pan African Television in Accra on Monday, January 11 and monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
Dr Apaak noted the era in which the Akufo-Addo led government had its way over the legislative house due to their majority was over adding the NDC would frustrate them on any bill which would not benefit Ghanaians in the long run.
Ghana’s 8th Parliament has no Majority
Some section of the Ghanaian public has expressed concerns over how effective government businesses would be handle in parliament following the ruling New Patriotic Party’s inability to secure a parliamentary majority during the December 7, elections.
Both parties currently are at pal with One Hundred and Thirty Seven(137) seats each, with one independent candidate.
The party also lost the speakership position of the 8th Parliament to its political opponent, raising a lot of concerns some of which indicating that the NDC would use it numbers to frustrate government business in the house.
