State of Insecurity: We are responsible, older folk 45years and above

Vida Essel-LampteyThe President of the Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies (ISDES), Dr. Ishmael D Norman, PhD., JD. BA has blamed the incessant crimes in the country on the older folks in the country, 45 years and above.
That he said was because the group, currently captains and leaders of industries have supervised the bureaucratic systems in institution , a situation which makes it impossible for the country’s youth to make meaningful gains in life.
“Our older folks those within the ages 45 and above, we are responsible for what is happening now, it is not only the youth, is not only the situation of unemployment, it is also because we in that cohort has been the leaders and the captains of industry of the bureaucracy and all of that and we are not managing affairs well”.
Dr Norman made the comment on TV3 current affairs programme, TheKeyPoint on Saturday, June 19, monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He was speaking about the day light robbery which occurred at James Town, a suburb of Accra in which a policeman on guard a bullion van and a hawker were shot dead by armed men.
James Town Daylight Robbery a wake up call
According to him, the development was a wake up call to the country and the cohort to manage the affairs of the country properly, so to enable the youth’s dreams of a better life come into fruition.
He indicated all the youth demand was a better life just like every normal human being and that was what was informing the irrational actions by those engaging in crimes.
“This is a wake up call to all of us to do what we do and do it properly,” he said.
“The youth want to be happy , the youth want to have jobs, the youth want to have a life that when they look around them other people who are well situated are having and they don’t see that and because of that they are revolting”.
Daylight Robbery at James Town: Policeman, Hawker shot dead
A policeman on bullion van guard duty was on Monday, June 14 shot dead in a daylight robbery at Adedenkpo in Jamestown in Accra.
The attack also saw a hawker shot dead while the armed men, three of them made away with undisclosed amount of money and the gun of the murdered policeman.
A salesgirl at the back of the van, however, managed to escape from the car unharmed.
