Sagnarigu MCE engages residents on new revenue mobilisation strategies
The Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly in partnership with Workforce One, a revenue mobilization agency, has embarked on sensitization drive to create awareness on the assembly’s project dubbed: Sustainable Practical Strategies for Code Enforcement to enhance revenue mobilisation in the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Yakubu Ahmed Mohammed explaining the rationale behind the exercise said the sensitization seeks to educate residents of the municipality to adhere to rules and regulations governing the placement of containers on buffer zones, waterlog areas, building permits, encroaching on government land and blockages to help mobilize revenue for development.
The Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly has been partnering with Workforce One, owing to the capacity of the latter’s capacity in mobilizing revenue for assemblies.
The assembly has therefore served notice to people residing within Kalipohin area government lands to move to the Kalpohin market or risked being evicted. He encouraged encroachers to get settled on the site of the Kalpohin market before the construction is completed to secure their stores.
The MCE said warned developers who are erecting buildings without building permits to comply with the by-laws of the assembly by securing the permits from the assembly.
The sensitization exercise took the team to Kalipohin, Kanvili, Gumani and Choggu all suburbs of the municipality.
He also revealed that the assembly is liaising with the Ghana Revenue Authority to employ people and train them on tax mobilization to help the assembly to embark on Unified Property Rate Tax collection to propel the development of the area.
