Women in Sagnarigu-Dungu undergo skills training to be entrepreneurs.

About 50 women from Sagnarigu Dungu, a suburb of Tamale has benefitted from a one-day skill training to enable them to set up their businesses and reduce financial burden in the community.

Youth Entrepreneurship Development for Africa Development (YEAFAD) in collaboration with Girls Empowerment Mission Ghana (GEM-Ghana), a consortium of non-governmental organisations has given a successful liquid soap making training to the women.

These formed part of the two organisations’ objectives to contribution towards Women’s Economic Empowerment to make them financially independent and equipping them with entrepreneurial skills to improve their standards of living.

Mrs. Ibrahim Rafia and Miss Baba Kamilat members of YEAFAD took participants through the training showing them the process and educating the participants on how to measure chemicals and ingredients that are involved in the process.

The participants were given the chance to have hands-on experience in making the liquid soap in two different ways.

The trainers allowed some of the participants to demonstrate the two different processes involved in making liquid soap, which they demonstrated successfully to show their understanding.

The participants were taken through strategies to sustain their new skills acquired to support released financial burden.

Officers from GEM Ghana, Miss Ateni Akpariba and Mrs. Rukaya Hamidu educated participants how to accurately package their products to attract buyers.

They added that branding the products and marketing it well would earned them good money to support their families and sustain their new found business.

The women who took part in the skill training has applauded the organisations for imparting knowledge on them to ease the financial burden of the community.
