DJ Hayden Death: When Did DJ Hayden Die?: Former National Football League (NFL) player, D.J. Hayden, officially known as Derek Sherrard Hayden Jr, has passed away.
D.J. Hayden and two of his former college teammates died in a two-car crash that police said killed six people at a downtown Houston intersection on Saturday, 11 November 2023.

DJ Hayden died at 33 on Saturday, 11 November 2023 through an accident. He was among six people who were killed early Saturday morning after a car sped through a red light and struck another vehicle in Houston.
According to Houston Police Assistant Chief, Megan Howard, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 2 a.m. after a black Chrysler sedan that appeared to be going “very fast” through a red light on Fannin St. collided with a black Acura SUV that had a green light on Pierce St., Houston.
Two of D.J. Hayden’s former college teammates died. Including the athletes, five males and one female died in the crash. Of those killed, four died at the scene while four others were taken to the hospital, where two later died.
The driver of the Chrysler who ran the red light died at the scene, Howard said. Another person, a female, is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The other survivor, a male, is being interviewed by investigators.
In 2012, DJ Hayden hit major headlines after suffering a near-fatal heart injury from colliding with a teammate during practice.
Born in Houston, Texas, Hayden played college football for the Houston Cougars and was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He played in eight seasons through 2020 for the Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Jacksonville Jaguars. On December 18, 2021, he signed with the Washington Football team’s practice squad
Later, DJ Hayden signed a reserve/future contract with the Washington Football Team on January 19, 2022, but was released on April 8, 2022.
