2022 BECE commences today

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior High Schools (JHS) commenced today, Monday, October 17, 2022.

The first papers being written for the first day of the exams are ICT and Social Studies.

A total number of 38,635 students in the Western Region have sat for the exams which comprise 19,649 males and 18,986 females in the Western Region.

According to the Ghana Education Service, (GES) 1,258 schools are participating in the exams and among those schools, 786 of them are public schools whiles 472 are private schools.

The exam is being written at 128 centres across the region with a total number of 1385 invigilators involved.

The Skyy News team this morning were at two examination centres, that is Fijai SHS and Archbishop Porter Girls SHS, to monitor the atmosphere and how the exams are being coordinated.

An examination supervisor at the Fijai SHS centre warned the students about sending foreign materials to the examination hall and alerted them that their papers can get cancelled for malpractice.

Most of the students who spoke to Skyy News before the exams were very confident and had high hopes that they will get good grades and get their first choice of school.
