In the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region, a total of forty-seven candidates have successfully filed nominations to compete in the 2019 District Level Elections (DLEs).
42 men and 5 women filed their nomination forms to run in the DLFs of the Municipality’s 13 Electoral Areas after the nomination period ended on Friday, November 17.
In an interview on Monday in Takoradi, Mrs Effe Wilson, the Electoral Commission’s (EC) Western Regional Director, revealed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
According to her, a total of 174 people—141 men and 33 women—had submitted applications to run for membership on the Unit Committee in each of the Effia.
Before allowing candidates to run in the elections, she noted that all nominations submitted underwent vetting.
