6 persons dead in fatal accident at Aprede in Eastern Region

On Friday, October 7, 2022, a horrific accident at Aprede Mountain in the Okere District of the Eastern Region left at least six individuals dead and a number of others hurt.

A Sprinter Benz bus with the registration number GY 1570-13, which was transporting several passengers from Koforidua in the Eastern area to Aflao, is said to have been involved in the event.

The driver of the Sprinter Benz bus was overspeeding while descending the mountain, according to Mr Tetteh, a driver who saw the collision while travelling in the opposite way.

The driver allegedly lost control of the steering wheel while attempting to navigate a bend because of the pace at which the car was moving. The car then somersaulted and landed in a ditch.

He added that, “The driver should be blamed, he was over speeding and I told him to reduce it but he did not even look at me so I am not surprised this unfortunate incident has happened, the car somersaulted severally”

The Yilo Krobo Government Hospital in Somanya is currently treating some passengers who suffered serious injuries.

A similar occurrence happened months prior when some University of Education, Winneba students died tragically while travelling for academic purposes.
