Agradaa wearing make-up is normal, she is rich and not yet convicted

A seasoned lawyer, Mr Philip Fiifi Buckman has shared his opinion on why Madam Patricia Asiedu, aka Nana Agradaa, was neatly dressed and had heavy makeup on during her court appearance on Thursday whiles in police custody.

Many Ghanaians have shared their opinion on her recent appearance as some are sceptical about her really being in police custody.

Some social media users believe she is being treated special because of her alleged political connections or her social status which does not sit right with them.

Lawyer Buckman speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show noted that she is yet to be convicted and, therefore, has the right to enjoy some privileges whiles in police cells.

He explained that the female cell is mostly not overcrowded like the male cell so she can have enough space for herself, also since she is rich, she can afford to enjoy certain privileges like having a private space in the cells and having her makeup on before being taken to court.

He said, “People who have money are treated differently when they are taken to police cells, they are not treated like ordinary citizens as they can request for a private cell and enjoy other privileges because they can afford it.”

Patricia Asiedu, aka Nana Agradaa, the founder of Heavenway Champion International Ministries, has been remanded into police prison twice by an Accra Circuit Court in connection with an alleged money-doubling scheme.

The court, presided over by Mr Samuel Bright Acquah, stated that it could not give her bail after “weighing the weight of balance” and the public interest.

When granted bail, the accused, according to the court, may also settle up with the complainants, who were weak.

Therefore, it directed the prosecution to get its act together by moving swiftly with its inquiries and with the submission of disclosures so that the trial could begin. It then postponed the matter until Monday, October 17.
