The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wassa East District in the Western Region Mr Emmanuel Boakye says the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has solved about 70% of the infrastructural challenges in the Basic Schools in the district.
He said there was a huge furniture deficit in the various Basic Schools which recently prompted the students of Osenso D/A Basic school to embark on a demonstration.
He said the Assembly mobilized resources and has provided almost all the Basics Schools with dual desks.
On the issue of potholed and ripped-off classrooms, Hon. Emmanuel Boakye said the Wassa East district assembly has provided some bags of cement and roofing sheets to be used by the affected schools.
The DCE speaking to Listowel Aboagye Dacosta told Skyy News that, before his tenure in office, the district had a furniture deficit of 8,000.
“We have reduced this deficit bit by bit and we continue to do so… The Assembly have done various donations to schools including myself personally. I have spoken to the Forestry Commission to help us with some of the woods that have been seized for the construction of furniture for Basic Schools.”
