President Nana Akufo Addo has thrown a jab at the member of Parliament for the Damongo Yapei-Kusawgu constituency and former deputy energy minister under the John Mahama administration for failing to connect 17 communities in his constituency to the national grid.
Speaking in Yapei in the central Gonja district of the Savannah region on day two of his official visit to the Region, President Akufo Addo said in his lifetime, the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency produced two members of Parliament, Alhaji Amadu Seidu, who he described as his former colleague in Parliament and John Jinapor who was the deputy minister of energy.
President Nana Akufo Addo said it is therefore surprising that about 17 communities in the constituency are still not connected to the national grid.
The President was responding to the request made by the paramount chief of Yapei traditional area Yapeiwura A.B.T Zakaria who appealed to the president for the extension of electricity to some 17 communities in his traditional area.
“One of the things that surprises me a little, since 1992 I have known two people who have been MPs for the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency, and they have always been from the NDC and I am surprised 17 communities in the district has still not been connected the national grid.”
“I am here and will do it, we are for the development of the entire space known as Ghana without discrimination.”
