The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annor-Dompreh has announced a postponement of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s State of the Nation’s Address scheduled for February 18.
The new date he said will be on March 8, two-days after Ghana’s 66th Independence Day Celebration to be held in Volta Region of the country.
Mr Annor-Domepreh made the announcement of the postponement at the floor of Parliament monitored by GhanaPlus.com.
He was presenting the statement for the third week ending Friday, March 3.
The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency however, did not give reasons for the postponement.
State of the Nation’s Address
State of the Nation’s Address(SoNA) is a constitutional requirement of the President made possible by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
“The President shall, at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation,” the provision reads.
