A newly built 2-unit classroom block has been handed over to Anto-Aboso D/A KG School in the Shama District of the Western Region.
Students were at the mercy of the rain and other unpleasant conditions in the old dilapidated block, prompting the leadership of the school and community to make a request for a new building from the government which was fortunately granted.
The District Chief Executive of the Shama District, Mr Ebenezer Dadzie speaking at the handing over ceremony on Thursday, August 31, said it’s the priority of the government for every child in the country to enjoy quality education hence the step taken.
“The dilapidated school building has been a problem for the people and we the assembly. We are grateful that finally, we have been able to build a new and ultra-modern classroom block for the school to serve the KG.”
“Education is the priority of the NPP government, The Free SHS is an example and we are continuing to improve on the infrastructure and the quality of education in the country.”
He asked that the administration of the school and community adopt a culture of maintenance and make sure the school building is always in good condition.
“Culture of maintenance should be our priority, the sustainability of this block should be the responsibility of the school and community as a whole.”
“Our attention should be drawn to any issue relating to the school building so we can fix it so the school can be in good shape always.”
The Headmistress of the Anto D/A KG school Madam Grace Dugbenu used to occasion to thank the assembly for their effort and also asked for an ICT lab and computers for the school.
