Appoint indigenes from Western Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has received a petition from Awulae Agyevi Kwame, Paramount Chief of the Nsein Traditional Council, requesting that more Indigenes from the Western Region be appointed to positions in his cabinet when the party takes office on January 7, 2025.

As part of a two-day Building Ghana Tour of the Western Region, Awulae Agyevi Kwame made the request when former President Mahama paid him a visit at his palace in Nsein in the Nzema East Municipality.
Chieftaincy issues caused the Western Region to fall behind in progress, according to the Omanhene.

With particular reference to the Agona-Nkwanta to Takoradi stretch, the Esiama to Awiebo route, the Teleku-Bokazo to Simpa junction road, and the Samenye road, Awulae Kwame spoke about the region’s poor roads.

The Omanhene cautioned the government to move the Independence Day celebration to the Western Region for the next year, voicing concerns over the holiday being observed outside of it for an extended period.

Former President Mahama, on his part, praised the Western Region’s enormous contributions to the growth of the country.

He said that many Nzemas and indigenous people from the Western Region were part of the last NDC administration.
The NDC Flagbearer declared that to run the country’s affairs, his administration would collaborate with traditional leaders.

Mr. Mahama urged the populace to support him in the December 7 presidential election, claiming he had the knowledge and experience necessary to lead the country.
