Bawumia wins NPP Special Delegates election, Joe Ghartey out of top 5 – Skyy Power FM

On Saturday, August 26, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won comfortably in the Special Delegates Election of the New Patriotic Party.

Kennedy Agyepong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, finished second with 132 votes, while the Vice President won the election with 629 of the total valid votes cast.

With 95 votes, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the previous trade minister, finished third.

Dr. Bwaumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kyerematen, and Dr. Owusu Afryie Akoto are the top four elected contenders to run for the Party’s flagbearer post on November 4.

After both candidates received nine votes, the Party would stage a runoff between Mr. Francis Addai-Nimo and Mr. Boakye Agyarko the next Saturday.

The runoff winner will compete in the November Conference among the top four.
