Be patriotic without bitterness in these times of economic hardship

Ghana is going through a time of economic rollercoaster that is not favouring the finances of the country and the people.

The year-on-year inflation rate rose to 40.4 per cent in October from 37.2 per cent in the previous month, the Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday.

The month-on-month inflation rate also rose to 2.7 per cent in October from 2.0 per cent in September.

Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Thursday, November 10, Nana Kofi Imbeah who is a family life advocate and coach said Ghanaians need to be patriotic without bitterness in these times of economic hardship.

According to him, being patriotic and doing good in these times is a godly act and people should not expect any reward.

He indicated that people have allowed the economic difficulties to sink so much into their thought at a point that they don’t have any more hope.

He said, “People have had suicidal thoughts and even just recently, it was circulating in the news that a man climbed a high-tension pole to commit suicide at Kasoa due to the economic hardship which is very sad.”

He advised that leaders must recognise God and should have some quality traits like loyalty, truthfulness, commitment to duty, integrity and hard work to better the country and be an example to the citizens.

“Leadership should start from the home, parent must train their children with these quality traits because it will impact and be their quality when they grow up, it’s these same people who turn out to be our leaders,” he added.
