Boahen Aidoo justifies decision to sideline Western Region journalist – Skyy Power FM

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, Mr. Boahen Aidoo has justified the New Patriotic Party’s decision to deny journalists in the Western Region entry into the Super Delegate Conference voting centre.

The voting that took place at the Takoradi Technical University saw journalists being denied entry into the voting centre to witness the whole voting process as they claimed it tampered with press freedom and a free and fair election.

Mr Boahen Aidoo speaking to journalists at the sidelines of the super delegate conference said journalists have not been sidelined but the measure was put in place for security reasons.

He said, “To me is a non-starter, You are interviewing me so it means you are part of the election and you are here. The election protocols may be different today, before going to vote, I had to identify myself with my I.D. even though they know me.”

“If you are going there you should go there with an agenda, if you are not a delegate, I’m not sure they should allow you up there, The vote is secret and you should go there to vote secretly and nobody should follow you.”

Journalists in the Western Region were not happy with this development and made it a point to challenge the electoral process so it does not occur in the future.
