Court plays audio involving suspended Takoradi MCE and police officer, case adjourned
The case involving the embattled Mayor of STMA has been adjourned to May 17, 2022, this was after the court listen to the alleged tape and ordered the court recorder to transcribe it into writing.
The audio in which a voice purported to be that of the suspended Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul- Mumin Issah was heard hurling insults at a Police officer performing road check duties, was played in court today.
In the audio that went viral, someone, suspected to be the mayor, was overheard angrily heaping invectives on the police officer for insisting that he joins the queue like others and wait for his turn.
The person was also heard in the audio saying “You are stupid, you ugly policeman. You don’t know whom you are dealing with? You will come begging tomorrow. I will send you to Enchi”
The audio is attached to the disclosures in the case in which the mayor is being trialled for an alleged motor traffic offence, verbal assault and offensive conduct against a police officer performing his lawful duty.
It would be recalled that at the last court sitting, the judge, His Honour Michael Ampadu insisted that the audio should be played in court at the next adjourned date.
When the case was called yesterday, counsel for the accused, Samuel Agbota reminded the court of its decision to play the audio to end the Case Management Conference.
The judge then retired to his chamber for a brief moment during which the audio was played in the presence of the accused and his counsels as well as the prosecution.
When the judge resumed his seat in the courtroom after listening to the audio, he ordered that the audio be given to the recorder of the court for the person to play and transcribe it into writing.
