Dagbon youth advice to cope with traditional leaders and security personnel in celebrating fire festival.
The public relations officer for Dagbon Kingdom, Musah Yakubu has advised the general public to cope with traditional leaders and security personnel that are to be on grounds to protect the people during the fire festival celebration.
Language barrier is a major challenge which he think will be addressed by both the security in a professional way with the populace. Some of the security personnel do not understand the local dialect and it is his hope that the populace will cope with them to have a safe celebration
Fire festival is an annual celebration that comes off on the 9th day of the traditional month, fire month which is called in the local dialect as “Bugum goli”.
The overload has taken Quran recitation to be part of the activities marked on the fire festival celebration to seek for a peaceful celebration during and after the fire festival celebration apart from the usual Quranic recitation.
According to him, fire arms that will be use on the event celebration should be locally manufactured and it is not all that are supposed to use the fire arms.
The tradition has given power to some sub chiefs the authority to poses fire arms during the celebration the fire arms will be used to signifies the people when the overlord lightning the fire with torch and it would pave way to the general public to also lighten.
Weapons with any person without traditional demand will be cease by the security personnel and may be handover to the owners after the celebration.
The celebration will come off on 8th august, 2022 at the Gbewaa palace and across all other sub chiefs palaces in dagbon kingdom to showcase the culture.
He therefore, encourage the general public to come out in their numbers on time to have a fruitful celebration across the entire kingdom
