Delegation from Palermo City in Italy to visit Sekondi-Takoradi

A group of eight individuals from the Palermo Municipality in Italy, under the direction of Deputy Mayor Antonella Tirrito, will visit the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis for five days as part of the Twin-Cities in Sustainable Partnership Project (TCSPP), which is sponsored by the European Union.

Representatives from Cooperazione Internationale Sud (CISS), Ghana Sicily Business Forum, and Palermo Municipality would be on the joint expedition.

The mission would, among other things, allow the team to share experiences and enhance the capacity of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) officials and other stakeholders to leverage cultural tourism and conservation of cultural heritage to drive successful urban development policies, according to a statement signed by Mr. John Latse, TCSPP Communication and Visibility Officer, and copied by the Takoradi media.

The statement reads, “While in the Metropolis, the team will engage the management of Takoradi Technical University on the hosting of the Maritime and Nautical Training Centre in collaboration with Studio De Santis srl, an International Maritime Organization accredited training institute based in Palermo, Italy”

Stakeholders in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis will be invited to a workshop aimed at exchanging best practices and collaboratively devising strategies for the advancement and promotion of artisanal arts and crafts.

Additionally, the team would visit a few facilities dedicated to arts and crafts and discuss potential commercial collaborations with the Sekondi-Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s administration.
