Drivers who ply the Nkroful/Ketan road located in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis say they are not surprised that the contractor working on a section of the road has abandoned work.
Asabea Construction Company Limited, one of the firms handling most road construction projects has abandoned work after a week of clearing the shoulders of the road.
The drivers however said it’s common to see the contractor under the pretext of working to complete the project, but after gravelling and small clearing to widen the space, the contractor will not be seen again for some months before he comes back to repeat the activity.
The drivers who said this in an interview with Skyy Power 93.5FM also noted that the road is not only deplorable for motorists but also gradually becoming a death trap.
They called on the Regional Minister to back up his promise with action and direct the contractor to fix the road for them.
They said enough of the lip service on the radio by the minister and he should help fix that portion of the road which is part of the international road that links Elubo to Cote D’Ivoire.
