The staff of Ecobank Ghana have donated items and constructed a visitor’s shed through the Ecobank Employee Volunteerism Programme for the Sekondi Female Prisons in the Western Region.
The donation on Saturday, September 2, 2023, was funded by private resources from the bank’s staff.
Items donated to the Sekondi Female Prison included a visitor’s shed, medical supplies, furniture, toiletries, detergents, a sewing machine and food for female inmates. This also includes the payment of 1-year medical bills for 3 critically ill inmates of the prisons.
Speaking at the event, the acting Managing Director of Ecobank Ms. Joana Mensah said Ecobank Ghana remains committed to playing an important role in communities, as a meaningful contribution to the development of the African continent, in line with their overall corporate vision.
She said the programme therefore gives them the unique opportunity to partly execute an important social contract that exists between us and their stakeholders, in the name of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). they are literally making the name and colours of Ecobank very visible at all 5 centres, for a very good cause.
Ms Joana Mensah indicated similar donations have been made in four other centres in Weija, Dodowa and Madina, all in the Greater Accra region, and Suntreso in Ashanti all valued at about GHS280,000.
The donations at the other four centres include the provision of water tanks, pumps, detergents, etc. to the Weija Leprosarium,
Settlement of medical bills for expectant mothers, new mothers, and needy children at the Church of Pentecost Hospital in Madina and the Suntreso Hospital in Kumasi.
Presenting of food items, stationery, used clothing and shoes, Malaria and typhoid Test Kits, toiletries and detergents to the Potter’s Village orphanage at Dodowa.
She said Ecobank remains committed to actively participating in the development and well-being of the communities they operate in their Employee Volunteerism Initiative for 2023, which, from today, will form part of their CSR programmes, a significant step forward in their journey, and look forward to making an even greater impact in the years to come.
