Economic hardships: Church of Pentecost declares 3days fasting and prayer

The Church of Pentecost has declared a three-day fasting and prayer to seek the face of God in the wake of the country’s dire economic difficulties.

Speaking in a viral video sighted by GhanaPlus.com, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye said the decision was made by the church’s Executive Council.

The fasting and prayer is under the theme text Exra 8: 23 which reads “So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer” and begins on Thursday, November, 10 and ends on Sunday, November 13.

It is apparent that the country for some time now has been going through some economic challenges which threaten the peace and security of the nation”.

“The church in times like this has a divine responsibility to intercede for the nation as admonished in Jeremiah 29:7 and 1timothy 2:1-2.  In view of this the Executive Council will like to declare a three-days all day fasting and prayers beginning from Thursday 10th to Sunday  13th November, 2022 under the theme text Exra 8: 23,” Apostle Nyamekye said while addressing a congregation on Sunday, November 6.

“The entire church is being call upon to pray and intercede for our nations and the global community. We should also pray for our leaders to find immediate solutions to these challenges,” he added.

The reverend Minister admonished members of the church to keep trusting and believing in God to bring restoration to the Ghana and the world.

“I want to use this opportunity to encourage all members of the church to keep trusting God and believe that he will respond to our prayers and bring relieve to the land,” Apostle Nyamekye said.

Economic crisis

Ghana is currently at a cross road financially making the desire for a comfortable life a luxury to many of its citizens.

Harsh economic conditions, rising cost of living, high cost of petroleum products and its implication on general conditions of life  as well as the falling cedi has brought untold hardships across the country.

Government is currently seeking support from the International Monetary Fund(IMF) to support its programmes.
