EKMA plans to establish recycling factory to curb sanitation issues – Skyy Power FM

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Effia Kwesiminstim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), Mr Kojo Acquah says the sanitation situation has improved in the area since the establishment of the EKMA.

Speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast Show with Naomi Afriyie-Nyanor on Tuesday, April 18, Mr Kojo Acquah said he is proud of what EKMA has been able to achieve in five years since the sanitation situation was a challenge for the people of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality.

He said Zoomlion Jospong Group of Companies has built a state-of-the-art recycling plant site at EKMA, almost complete that will recycle all the refuse into usable materials to help keep the environment safe.

“In five years, we have done very well with sanitation in our municipality, we have cleared most of the open refuse dumps.”

Speaking on roads, the MCE said they have asphalted some major roads in the municipality and they are planning to work on all uncompleted roads in the municipality as well.

“We are planning on asphalting all the roads in the municipality, places like Whindo, Assakae, Adientem, and Mpatado where they have never seen asphalt road before for the first time have seen it and we are extending it to other areas in the municipality.”

Mr Kojo Acquah further hinted at the re-development of the Kwesiminstim lorry stations into an ultra-modern facility with business centres in addition.

He added that the banning of tricycles, popularly known pragyia in the municipality was a deliberate attempt to curb indiscipline on the road.
