Ellembelle Excavator saga: 5 Chinese nationals arrested

Police have detained five Chinese nationals in relation to the missing excavators in Ellembelle in the Western Region.

The five suspects were apprehended during a special operation on the evening of September 7, 2022, according to a police statement.

This comes after the recovery of one of the excavators and the detention of five additional people, including Kwasi Bonzoh, the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle.

Five counts have been brought against Mr. Bonzoh.

He has been charged with assault, conspiring to commit assault, resisting arrest, and two other offenses.

He was granted bail on Wednesday. However, bail was not approved for his other four conspirators, who were also detained.
