Essikado aims to become educational hub in Western Region

The Essikado Traditional Area, in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, are aiming to become the educational hub in the Western Region.

The community aims to achieve this through its annual Traditional Kuntum celebration.

In achieving this, a Development Dialogue as part of the festival has been scheduled on Wednesday,10th of August, 2022 themed, “Positioning Essikado to become educational of the Western Region,” with some of the best brains in the country.

An assembly member in the area, Mr Stephen Abban, said, “Essikado will soon become an educational hub, as you can see, the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) have established a campus here, Ongoing construction of STEM school, and many others we are looking forward to.”

He also anticipated an exciting Kuntum Festival celebration this season despite its slow start.

The festival that began on Saturday, July 30th with a community cleaning will end on Saturday, 13th August 2022, with the finals of the inter-community soccer competition.

A resident said that due to the covid 19 pandemic, the celebration has been toned down but all the necessary rites and rituals have been performed for a fruitful year.

Speaking on the benefits of the celebration to the community, the resident indicated it boosts business as the celebration attracts thousands of people from far and near to the community.
