One of the most cherished bands, Evergreen Movement Band has been crowned the best brass band at the 2023 Westside Carnival Brass Band Festival.
This is the second edition of the competition where Twelve (12) of the best brass bands in the country mounted the big stage to contest for the ultimate price; The Bragging Rights.
These twelve bands were the defending champions Bossplay, Evergreen Movement Band, Super Sonic, Sky Band, Unique Movement Band, De-Pundit, Barons Band, Crystal Groove, Diamond Band, Authentic, West Harmonic and 360 Band.
Each of the groups in the competition had to play a rendition of the Ebony Condoms’ theme song, the Westside Carnival song and a song of their choice.
This was the criteria used as the bands were judged based on who could render the most authentic sound from these songs.
Evergreen Movement Band came out top, taking home the ultimate price of GHS5,000 and souvenirs from Ebony Condoms, the sponsors of the completion.
Winners of the maiden edition, Bossplay came out second, taking home GHS3000 and souvenirs from Ebony Condoms.
West Harmonic were the second runners-up, taking home GHS2000 and souvenirs from Ebony Condoms.
