The Ghana National Fire Service is considering training artisans at the Takoradi Kokompe as firefighters who will help the fire services in the event of fire outbreak.

Speaking exclusively to Skyy News’ Patrick Ennimil Arthur, the D.O.1 Thomas Nii Tetey who is the Western Regional 2IC at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) emphasised the work nature of members of the Garages Association saying artisans are exposed to fire always.

So it will be important to give them the basic training as fire fighters and fire wardens to help the Ghana National Fire Service in educating their members and most importantly help them deal with any eventuality of fire outbreak in the Kokompe enclave if it so happen.

He said, “We have decided on training because we have realised that these artisans have knowledge and their vast knowledge can help us, this is because of the rampant fire outbreak in their area.”

“First of all we will train them the basic one and then we will select some of them in put them in other training where we are going to expose them to other hazards that bring fire.”
